Irreversible chemical cleaning material for deep removal of fluoride from the liquid phase
HYAF200 is a high-performance composite adsorbent specifically designed for the deep removal of fluoride from fluorinated liquid media. In alkylation processes, the production of fluorine-containing fine chemicals and specialty solvents, dissolved hydrogen fluoride (HF) and organic fluorides cause severe corrosion of downstream equipment and irreversible fluoride poisoning of precious metal catalysts. HYAF200, due to the rapid irreversible chemical reaction of active components with fluoride ions, fixes fluorine in the form of stable metal fluorides in the porous structure of the material, providing high-capacity deep removal of fluorides from the liquid phase with a low output concentration.
HYAF200 is loaded into a fixed bed adsorber for liquid phase cleaning, through which the treated liquid is passed at a certain volumetric velocity. Highly active functional centers on the surface of the adsorbent enter into chemical bonding with dissolved fluoride ions and reactive organic fluorides, forming thermodynamically stable, sparingly soluble metal fluorides (for example, CaF₂, etc.), which are fixed inside the carrier. The key objective of the process is not “the ability to remove fluoride,” but “long-term maintenance of high fluorine breakthrough capacity, low output concentration and layer structure integrity in complex liquid environments with fluctuations in acid-base balance, water and oil content.”
• High fluorine capacity: high ability of a unit mass of the adsorbent to capture fluoride ions
• Deep removal: fluoride output concentration is reduced in a controlled manner to extremely low levels
• Irreversible chemical fixation: no risk of secondary leaching or release
• Direct liquid phase processing: no evaporation required, simple process
• Resistant to acids, water and oils: suitable for difficult process environments
• Removal of fluorine from alkylation product with hydrofluoric acid
• Liquid-phase purification of intermediate products of fluorine-containing fine chemicals
• Removal of fluoride from special solvents and fluoride-containing process wastewater
• Protective catalyst layer (prevents fluoride poisoning)
• Deep removal of fluorine from fluorine-containing aromatic/heterocyclic compounds
This is not a “simple adsorbent”, but a “specialized cleaning material for deep fluoride removal, based on chemical fixation and resistant to complex liquid media.”
Question: How is HYAF200 different from activated alumina for fluoride removal?
Answer: Conventional activated alumina removes fluoride ions primarily through surface physical adsorption or weak chemisorption, has limited fluoride capacity, and is prone to desorption and degradation in acidic or aqueous environments. HYAF200, through an irreversible chemical reaction of special active components with fluoride ions, forms extremely stable solid fluorides, providing more complete fluoride removal without the risk of secondary release. In addition, the material has excellent acid resistance, water resistance and structural strength, making it more suitable for long-term use in harsh liquid environments.
