Highly porous adsorption material for selective removal of COS, H₂S, CS₂ and mercaptans from hydrocarbon streams
HYAS200 is an activated aluminum oxide with high specific surface area and high porosity, the typical chemical formula is Al₂O₃·nH₂O. The product is specifically designed for the selective removal of sulfur compounds from hydrocarbon streams. It is a smooth spherical granule and exhibits excellent industrial performance in the removal of carbonyl sulfide (COS), hydrogen sulfide (H₂S), carbon disulfide (CS₂) and various mercaptan impurities. Widely used in natural gas purification, synthesis gas processing, and desulfurization of light and liquid hydrocarbons.
HYAS200 is loaded into a fixed bed adsorber through which a sulfur-containing hydrocarbon stream is passed in gas or liquid phase. High surface area activated alumina selectively traps sulfur-containing impurities such as COS, H₂S, CS₂ and mercaptans through surface physical adsorption and chemical interaction. A key process design challenge is to ensure high sulfur capacity and long-term stable operation, as well as maintaining good mechanical bed integrity and uniform flow distribution throughout the regeneration or replacement cycle.
• Smooth spherical granules: low pressure drop and uniform flow distribution
• High specific surface area: provides a sufficient number of active sites
• Selective desulfurization: high efficiency for COS, H₂S, CS₂ and mercaptans
• Wide range of applications: suitable for both gas and liquid hydrocarbon streams
• High mechanical strength: resistance to destruction, ensuring long-term stability of the layer
• Specific surface area (m²/g)
• Breakthrough gray capacity (wt.%)
• Output total sulfur concentration (ppm or mg/m³)
• Size and sphericity of granules
• Crushing strength (N/grain)
• Bulk density (kg/m³)
• Loss on ignition / moisture content
• Natural gas desulfurization and purification
• Removal of COS and H₂S from synthesis gas
• Removal of mercaptans from light and liquid hydrocarbons
• Purification of oil refinery and coke oven gas
• Protective layer for desulfurization of polyolefin raw materials
150kg/sealed steel drum
1200 kg / soft container
The product should not be stored outdoors. Storage should be carried out in dry conditions, avoiding humidification and absorption of moisture from the air, which may affect performance.
Question: What are the features of HYAS200 compared to molecular sieve desulfurization?
Answer: Desulfurization on molecular sieves is based mainly on physical adsorption, while the adsorption capacity for specific sulfur compounds such as COS and CS₂, which are non-polar or weakly polar molecules, is limited, and the energy consumption for regeneration is high. HYAS200, an activated alumina with high specific surface area and surface reactivity, exhibits good selectivity for COS and mercaptans. It is suitable for single use or for use as a protective layer, has a simple process flow and controlled operating costs.
